A recent post over at A PhotoEditor drew my attention - video trailers used to promote books by their authors. This isn't something new and has been done in the past, however video trailers to promote Photography books is certainly new. Our very own series at the PhotoCorps is a sort of multimedia promotion, however it explores the artistic journey of the photographer, not the books (if any) by the photographer. I could see this becoming more of a trend and I think it makes sense for authors of photography books to have these types of promotions, but do I ever see The PhotoCorps venturing into the "trailer" style multimedia production, I highly doubt it. I think the PhotoCorps will have a unique voice and style of its own - one that would be applied to say, a photographer who wishes to discuss his/her book. However, I don't see us as a springboard for promotion/marketing as we aren't trying to sell anything. We are simply trying to tell a story.
